Overview
Established in October 1981, DIRGAHAYU Mfg. Co. began operation in a 20,000 square meters site in Waru, Sidoarjo in the province of East Java, Indonesia. Initial operations involved importing finished and semi-finished stationery product from Japan. These products included stencil sheets, telex tape, and carbon paper, which were then processed to suit domestic needs.
As the Indonesian economy grew, demand for stationery products sky-rocketed. Seeing increasing opportunities in the market, DIRGAHAYU sought to expand its business. The direction the company took was not just to increase its importation, but rather it was a move into full manufacturing. Thus by 1978, DIRGAHAYU began manufacturing carbon paper, stencil sheets, paper rolls, telex paper, paper clips and typewriter ribbons.
With its expansion in the 1980s and the early 1990s, DIRGAHAYU's manufacturing operations have grown and now occupies 40,000 square meters - employing a work force of over 600 people. Carrying a wide variety of products that range from paper clips to thermal paper and carbonless paper, DIRGAHAYU has firmly established its position as the leader in the Indonesian stationery market, processing the cutting edge in coating technology.
Constant research by its marketing and its research and development departments help to pinpoint new demand and new products. Such research also helps to assess its ability to develop and produce new products to meet that demand.
